Energized Solutions developed and delivered last summer and fall a series of bilingual water conservation courses for low-income home owners throughout the Central Basin Municipal Water District. Over 150 Spanish Speaking homeowners have attended the water conservation seminars to date and additional seminars are scheduled through Spring 2011. Our bilingual instructors covered a broad range of water related topics, including water sources, water conservation, drought resistant plants, xeriscaping, and easy to operate and maintain water conservation timers. These classes have proven very successful and home owners have reported significant reductions in water usage and associated billings. Southern California Edison’s Energy Efficiency and Solar Division initatied their QUE Awards Competition this summer. QUE stands for “Quality Underlies Efficiency” and SCE launched this program in Summer 2010 to help establish a culture of quality and continuous improvement throughout the Division. Dan Duran (Principal, Energized Solutions), PhD., helped develop the program with the SCE Quality Assurance team and served as one of the keynote presenters at the QUE launch held in mid-August.  The QUE launch was designed to support the ten QUE teams currently participating in the program, all focused on implementing programs to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of diverse energy efficiency programs. Dan helped develop the program and will work with several of the teams over the fall. The QUE program represents a major initiative by SCE to make continuous improvements a cornerstone of SCE’s Energy Efficiency and Solar Division and Energized Solutions is proud to be part of the team to make it happen.

Energized Solutions has been awarded a contract by the City of Poway to conduct a series of classes on California-friendly landscapes for homeowners. The topics covered in the series are landscape design, California friendly plants, efficient irrigation systems, soils, fertilizers, and watering strategies.

The City of Poway is a recognized leader in water conservation in Southern California. Energized Solutions is excited to be working the City to help the City reach its water conservation goal “to create long-term sustainable change in how Poway residents and businesses think about and use our limited water supply”.  Energized Solutions instructors are developing customized presentations that will educate homeowners on water conservation strategies as well as the programs and services offered by the City. Energized Solutions continues to raise the bar for MWD’s California Friendly Landscape Training Program. During the month of May 2009, Energized Solutions instructors taught 5 Residential classes for Metropolitan Water District that averaged 64 participants per class! Participants were especially excited about the instructor’s knowledge of fire-resistant plants to meet the needs of residents living in fire-prone areas of Southern California. Energized Solutions closed out the MWD fiscal year 2008-2009 with a total of 55 classes (43 Residential classes and 12 Professional classes) and looks forward to continue partnering with MWD and other water agencies during the upcoming year to help Southern California deal with the ongoing water crisis.
